The Maldives bags the ‘BEST ROMANTIC DESTINATION’ award at T+L India’s best awards
The 11th Edition of Readers’ Choice Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2022 was held at the ITC Maurya, New Delhi on November 16, 2022. The evening concluded with the Maldives bagging yet another award. The coral haven was awarded the ‘Best Romantic Destination’ in the Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2022 International Category. The High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India His Excellency Ibrahim Shaheeb received the award on behalf of the nation.
The best in travel, hospitality, and lifestyle are facilitated by T+L India’s Best Award. An online voting platform is published that stays active for 60 days, and the winners are chosen by the majority of the votes. The winners are felicitated at a grand gala that brings together the travel, hospitality, and lifestyle community under one roof. The achievement was made possible due to the tireless efforts of the MMPRC and various tourist organizations in the Maldives.
With a market share of 14% as of 9th November 2022, India currently ranks at the top of the market source with over 195,015 arrivals. The arrival count has had an impressive rise from 62,960 arrivals in 2020 which contributed to 11.3% of the total market share.
