VIA’s Noovilu Seaplane Terminal bags The 2022 Global Best Projects Awards
As the year 2022 comes to an end, the Noovilu Seaplane Terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA) will be celebrating New Year’s Eve with its new addition to its collection of awards. Global Best Projects Awards 2022 recently recognized the brand-new Noovilu Seaplane Terminal in the Merit of Airport/ Port category of the exclusive awards presented by Engineering News-Records (ENR).
On behalf of the Noovilu Seaplane Terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA), Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the operating company of VIA received the award. December 12, 2022, marked the 10th year anniversary of the ENR Global Projects Awards, the ceremony was conducted virtually. The 2022 Edition of the Global Best Projects Awards hosted a total of 18 categories, in which 18 different countries with their 34 winning projects competed against each other for the titles. The judging panel for the winning projects consisted of industry specialists.
The ENR Global Projects distinguished the Noovilu Seaplane Terminal in several aspects, one of the most commendable performances of the team was during the Covid-19 pandemic where the team excelled despite the travel restrictions, a shortage of workers as well as supply-chain disruptions. The environment-conscious construction process adhering to the environmental requirements of the Maldives was also acknowledged at the awards.
